Empowering employees with a 360º work experience

BBVA asked Mormedi to use new design technologies to improve the employee experience at La Vela, its new headquarters in Madrid, with the aim of increasing the efficiency, productivity, motivation and satisfaction of its employees.

Our challenge

Our multi-disciplinary team of Mormedi designers, strategists and psychologists faced the challenge of creating solutions adapted to the new work environment that consisted of more open and less vertical spaces. We wanted to facilitate real cultural change by defining digital solutions that empowered talent through technologies and communication tools in a simple and seamless way, as well as through cultural solutions that would empower employees to make optimal use of the new space.

Our path

Preliminary workshops, benchmarking and best practice analysis were followed by field work. We defined key user typologies and conducted an in-depth experience diagnostic based on cross-departmental interviews and office visits, complemented by a detailed space and flow analysis of the office and surrounding area. It was a highly collaborative process with BBVA.

Our achievements

We accomplished the goal that we had set ourselves at the beginning of the project: to ensure that the move to the new headquarters would help BBVA leverage a cultural shift providing a seamless and inspirational experience for the employee.

BBVA’s move to its new emblematic Madrid headquarters, designed by the Pritzker Price-winning Swiss architect duo Herzog and De Meuron, was not only about a change of space, but also of culture.
