Innovation on wheels

Hino, a Toyota Group company, is one of the biggest Japanese truck manufacturers. Its vehicles are sold in Asia, Africa, America, Europe and Middle East. With the ambition to consolidate its international expansion, Hino invited a selected group of design studios to create a new cab design concept.


Our challenge

International projects are particularly complex because of the different factors that must be mastered (habits, culture, etc.). These kind of challenges are an incentive for us. We focused our objectives in designing an innovative cabin, set on meeting the needs of the driver.

We had to be able to create a new customer experience, with a control and instrument panel integrated into a modern body design, that would boost the international image and prestige of the company over the next decade.

Our path

Through careful brand and positioning analysis of Hino in the field of commercial vehicles, we created a strategic framework that guided the design phase.

Hino’s core values of hybrid technology, safety and IT know-how were translated into a design language that transmits personality, quality, reliability, durability and simplicity.

Our achievements

Mormedi was selected as the winner of this competition. Hino highlighted our innovative interior cabin design, the distribution of the control board components, simplicity of handling and reading, the body and external components (mirrors, bumpers, headlights, etc.), amplitude of the glass surface, ease-of-access for the drivers and quality of the materials selected.
