Mormedi, the international design and innovation consultancy, was recognised with the award for “Best Mobility Programs” during the 2nd Annual Premios Ciudad (City Awards) by Open House Madrid on Friday September 25th.

The award is given to companies that excel in mobility initiatives that directly relate to our ways of life, especially related to the efficient use of transport, e.g. electric vehicles, individual and shared transport or the development of innovative strategies, to make the future of urban transport more ecological and comfortable.

For over 20 years, Mormedi has focused on design and innovation initiatives working internationally with mobility brands such as Audi, BMW, Nissan, Toyota, Hyperloop, Airbus, Alstom, Renfe, CAF, among many others.

In sustainable mobility, Mormedi’s track record includes work done with HyperloopTT in the design of a freight transport system to reduce congestion and urban emissions, as well as the design of the iconic capsule, as well as the creation of the Torrot Velocípedo, an all-electric vehicle for urban needs. Mormedi made impact in sustainable mobility in 2009 with the design of Spanish bus maker Castrosúa’s first hybrid electric-diesel-powered bus, the Tempus.

“It is a great pleasure to be recognised with this award. At Mormedi we are passionate about mobility and about designing solutions that will need to function in ever-changing ecosystems. Our solutions need to work in the context of smart cities, sustainable and autonomous transport systems, and—especially—with hyper-connected and evermore demanding users,” said Juliane Trummer, VP of Strategy and Design at Mormedi. “Our central role is to help companies innovate in a context of great uncertainty, supporting them in the creation of new products, business models, and partnerships, as well as building a service layer that complements their products.”

Founder and Director of Open House Madrid, Paloma Gómez Marín added, “These awards recognize creativity, design, and sustainability as essential factors to provide quality of life to citizens. Mormedi has been representing the best of Spanish thought leadership on these issues on a global stage for many years. Their recognition with the Best Mobility Programs award is thoroughly deserved.”
