Jaime Moreno attends the Railway Interior Innovation Summit USA in Washington DC

Last week, Jaime Moreno, CEO of Mormedi, attended the Railway Interior Innovation Summit USA organized by Red Cabin in Washington DC, one of the most relevant international events focused on the future of rail mobility and passenger experience.

The summit brought together leading rail operators, rolling stock manufacturers, suppliers, and industry experts to discuss the transformation currently taking place across the railway sector in the United States. The conversations throughout the event reflected the strong growth momentum of the industry, fueled by both public and private investment.

One of the major topics addressed during the summit was Amtrak’s ambitious fleet renewal strategy. The company is modernizing a large part of its aging fleet through the introduction of Alstom’s new NextGen Acela trains, Siemens Airo regional trains, and future long-distance train programs expected to be awarded by the end of 2027.

The event also highlighted the growing impact of private rail initiatives in the US market, particularly Brightline’s success operating the Miami–Orlando corridor and its upcoming high-speed connection between Las Vegas and Los Angeles — one of the most congested road corridors in the country.

Amtrak’s leadership team, including Roger Harris, Eliot Hamlisch, and Patricia Orfini, shared the company’s strong recent results and presented their strategic vision for the coming years, with a clear focus on improving the passenger journey from beginning to end.
